Quick Guide to the Medspa’s Facial Fillers
Posted September 23, 2019 in Facial Fillers
What Are Fillers and How Do They Work?
Injectable fillers were among the top five non-surgical procedures performed in 2018, according to the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS).
Their recent published statistics, in fact, referred to the “perennially popular injectables” as a major growing cosmetic trend.
For the millions who get them, injectable fillers are a proven way to smooth skin complexion, plump up sunken areas, and tighten facial contours.
And they avoid far more invasive approaches while delivering results that are arguably just as effective.
Fillers are among our Medspa’s rapidly growing repertoire of non-invasive facial treatments that provide patients powerful rejuvenation, convenience, and comfort.
Our Medspa currently offers JUVÉDERM® (XC, Voluma XC, Volbella) and Restylane®.
What It’s Made Of:
This product is made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring compound found in soft connective tissues like the joints or below the eyes.
It’s also found naturally in other sources, such as rooster combs or bacteria, where it’s extracted for cosmetic and medical use.
How It Works
As we age, our own body’s natural supply of hyaluronic acid starts to vanish, contributing to an aged appearance. Injectable fillers help to replace some of this lost hyaluronic acid, essentially filling and smoothing skin from within.
Hyaluronic acid also helps promote new skin cell and collagen growth, which boosts the improvement of the skin’s texture even further.
What It Does For The Face
JUVÉDERM® XC is a versatile injectable that can be used in nearly any part of the face but is particularly effective at treating lines around the mouth and nose area. The injectable fills wrinkles instantly, smoothing their appearance right away.
JUVÉDERM® Voluma XC is useful in restoring lost volume along the cheeks, which can prematurely cause an aged or even unwell appearance.
JUVÉDERM® Volbella specializes in repairing wrinkles on the lips and vertical lip lines. It produces a soft smoothing effect that’s virtually unnoticeable, creating a beautifully enhanced appearance. Lips appear plumper, smoother, and healthier.
What It’s Made Of
Restylane® also uses a form of hyaluronic acid to fill in sunken areas along the eye areas and upper cheeks.
How It Works
This filler is used to restore lost volume under the eyes and along the upper cheeks. The injectable works by filling these areas with a clear gel hyaluronic acid, instantly plumping them up for a more youthful appearance.
What It Does for the Face
Restylane® is particularly useful at getting rid of sunken, dark areas under the eyes, which can prematurely create an aged, tired appearance. The injectable can also fill sunken areas along the upper cheeks, restoring facial contours.
