Brazilian Butt Lift Vs. Butt Implants

3 Minute Read:

Having a shapely rear end is something that many women desire, especially on a Miami beach. Achieving a perky, full butt is challenging to sculpt through exercise, though, and even the most diligent gym bodies don’t always get the results they want. Targeted exercises for the backside only work to a point; after that, you may hit a wall that is difficult to pass.

Surgery is another option for butt enhancement, and there are two popular procedures: a butt implant and a Brazilian Butt Lift.

What Are Butt Implants?

Butt implants work similarly to the way that breast implants do. These silicone sacks are inserted under the skin to add more definition, volume, and oomph to the rear. However, unlike breast implants, these consist of a more solid, cohesive silicone, since they need to keep their structure, shape, and integrity with the consistent pressure and weight put on the butt every time you sit or lie down.

What Is a Brazilian Butt Lift?

An alternative to butt implants is the immensely popular Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL). Unlike butt enhancement that requires synthetic implants, the BBL uses the all-natural augmenting material of your fat. The BBL is a fat transfer procedure, meaning that it harvests fat from your body with liposuction or Lipo 360, purifies and extracts the strongest fat cells from that collection, and injects the purified fat into various regions of the buttocks. As the fat is injected, each cheek is smoothed and contoured, with the fat grafted in even layers and sculpted for definition and symmetry.

What Is Recovery Like For a Butt Augmentation?

Butt augmentation with both a butt implant and a Brazilian Butt Lift requires downtime of several weeks.

In this time, you may have swelling, bruising, and redness around the incisions and/or injection sites. The most difficult part of a butt augmentation recovery. Typically, you will be unable to put pressure on your buttocks immediately after the procedure, meaning that you cannot sit directly on your butt or lie on your back for several days. However, if the fat transfer is done on the upper portion of the buttocks only, Dr. Hochstein may clear you to sit on the buttocks. It’s important to discuss this with him or your surgeon prior to surgery.

Most butt augmentation patients invest in a special “butt augmentation pillow.” This circular pillow will allow you to sit comfortably without risking the quality of your results.

Will I Have Scars After My Butt Augmentation?

Undergoing a butt augmentation with implants will result in scarring along the incision lines, which is generally hidden in the crease.

The BBL may result in some minor scarring at the liposuction site, although none in the buttocks, as the transfer is made via injections. You may have pain for several weeks, but compression garments can help mitigate the swelling and pain killers can help you feel better and more about more freely. Please consult with your surgeon to ensure they recommend compression garments, as every patient’s aftercare instructions are different.

Which Butt Enhancement Procedure Is Right For Me?

While both procedures will provide you with a rounder, fuller, and more voluptuous derrière, they are not the same.

The Brazilian Butt Lift is all-natural, and since the fat comes from you, it is safer than implants. There is no chance of rejection or allergic reaction, and since the fat has to come from somewhere, you get the added benefit of body contouring on the abdomen, hips, or thighs.

A Brazilian Butt Lift results in smoother curves, requires smaller incisions, and leaves a more natural-looking result.
