The words “let there be light” can seem so profound, and now it appears that light indeed has profound potential to heal and improve the appearance of skin.

The photo shows how treatment improved an attractive woman's facial skin.

Many individuals with skin concerns are trading invasive, sometimes painful procedures for comfortable therapy with BroadBand light to treat scars, sun damage, wrinkles, and more.

What Is BroadBand Light (BBL™)?

While BBL™ is sometimes referred to as a laser treatment, it actually uses intense pulsed light (IPL) that can be modified to treat a wide range of skin conditions.

BBL™ delivers pulsed light to gently but effectively improve the quality of your skin. The light saturates the top dermal layers with energy and heat, triggering the skin cells’ natural healing response and generating new collagen and cell growth.

Do You Have One or More of These 9 Skin Concerns?

BroadBand Light can address signs of aging, sun damage, acne scars, discoloration, and more.

1. Wrinkles

BBL™ targets common signs of aging, including fine lines and wrinkles, and is an excellent way to maintain glowing, healthier-looking skin.

2. Sun-Damaged Skin

We all know the dangers of too much sun, especially in a city like Miami! Sun damage, whether it results in age spots, redness, wrinkles, loss of skin tone, or uneven texture, can be difficult to cover and can significantly impact the quality of your complexion.

The broad-spectrum photothermal energy provided by BBL™ effectively reduces the visibility of age spots and sun spots while improving the quality of photodamaged skin.

3. Loose Skin

By delivering heat under the skin’s surface, BBL™ activates cell regeneration and collagen production anywhere on the body. By increasing this production, many patients find that their skin slightly tightens and firms following treatment.

4. Large Pores

We all notice when we have large pores, as these often collect oil and bacteria, which contribute to acne flare-ups. While some patients genetically have larger pores, others develop them due to sun damage, dehydration, and bad habits like smoking and not removing makeup or washing their faces.

Reducing pore size is one of the most satisfying benefits of BBL™. As the skin’s collagen supply increases, skin becomes more supple and smooth, minimizing the frustrations of large pores.

5. Acne

As mentioned above, BBL™ technology helps reduce pore size, which can directly impact acne.

Blue light is included when treating acne as it targets and destroys the bacteria responsible for it. This technology then delivers infrared light to reduce inflammation and help prevent the formation of scars.

6. Scars

The same infrared light used to help prevent acne scarring can also reduce the appearance of other facial scars.

This light heats the skin to break up the scars, thus reducing visibility without damaging the surrounding tissue. Because this treatment targets the redness of a scar, it is commonly used for scar revision.

7. Poor Skin Texture

The healing response triggered by BBL™ and the new cells created replace old, damaged cells to improve the tone and texture of the skin.

8. Hyperpigmentation

BBL™ directs broad-spectrum photothermal energy deep into the skin, which is absorbed by melanin to reduce redness and encourage fresh new cells to multiply and increase collagen production.

9. Broken Capillaries

BBL™ energy can be directed to broken capillaries close to the skin’s surface to promote new collagen growth in the area and shrink the tiny blood vessels.

Is a BroadBand Light Right for Me?

It should be noted that BBL™ energy works best for patients with lighter skin tones. If you have darker skin, an alternative treatment will likely be recommended, as patients with darker skin tones tend to absorb too much light. This process can cause hyperpigmentation and dark spots following treatment.

This is another reason you should be very picky about your laser treatment provider. The expert team at Hochstein Medspa is very familiar with the right treatments for patients with medium and darker skin tones to ensure that the results you get are the ones you want.
