Can Liposuction Give You a Six Pack? Find Out How

3 Minute Read:

The desire for a flat stomach is universal — we’ve all seen examples of perfectly defined abs on television and in magazines. But can liposuction sculpt the body into what every guy wants? The answer is “most likely.”

Because it involves fat reduction, liposuction can solve many aesthetic problems, an undefined abdomen included.

Is Liposuction Better Than the Gym?

The gym should always be the first course of action when trying to reduce fat and sculpt contours. And even with liposuction, a diligent exercise routine is essential to maintaining results

Unfortunately, to get the defined abdominal contours most men want (aka, the six-pack), men need time, effort, sweat, sore muscles, and a little thing called good genes. Even if you exercise and eat everything right, there is still no guarantee you can shape up your body if your genes don’t align.

Patients must remember that liposuction is not a weight-loss surgery. This treatment targets the areas of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. While many potential patients are eager to lose a lot of weight with liposuction, they must understand that the change on the scale will likely only be a few pounds and not a significant number.

However, as this is a body sculpting treatment, you will notice a significant change in the way that your clothes fit and the way you look without a shirt.

Why Can’t I Get Defined Abs?

Even with consistent exercise and a healthy diet, most people struggle to achieve flat abs or the definition seen on celebrities. A layer of fat called the subcutaneous layer is commonly found over the abdominal muscles of men and women alike. It hides your abs and makes it impossible for even the most dedicated weight trainers to achieve the extreme definition they desire.

Luckily, liposuction techniques are available that will have you beach-bound in Miami with your new flatter, firmer abdomen.

Liposuction (when performed by a skilled surgeon like Dr. Hochstein) can remove both small and large amounts of unwanted fat for real, true body sculpting.

Dr. Hochstein offers a liposuction technique known as Lipo 360, which removes fat from the abdomen, hips, and lower back (as the name implies, it targets all 360 degrees of your midsection).

Then the abdomen and hips are treated together, men can finally achieve the abdominal contour that has been escaping them, and this can make the countless sit-ups and hours on an elliptical or exercise bike finally pay off.

As with all cosmetic procedures, realistic expectations are required. Liposuction is performed to reduce fat pockets, not eliminate every fat cell in the body. Additionally, a liposuction treatment targets excess fat, it does not increase muscle mass.

Am I A Good Candidate for a Liposuction Treatment?

If you’ve been training, dieting, and trying to sculpt your abs to no avail, you might be a good candidate for liposuction. Ideal candidates include men and women at or near their goal weight who want to reduce the remaining fat pockets around their abs.

Liposuction is not a solution for obesity, and patients will need to maintain their liposuction results with diet and exercise.

What Is the Recovery Time Like After a Liposuction Procedure?

As with any cosmetic surgery procedure, recovery takes time. The healing process is affected by your age, overall physical condition, and how well you follow Dr. Hochstein’s instructions after your procedure.

Usually, liposuction patients can be up and about within 10 days to two weeks. This period can fluctuate depending on the size and number of liposuction treatment areas and whether any other plastic surgery techniques were performed simultaneously.
