If you’re considering a tummy tuck, you may be looking into the different options available. Deciding which type of tummy tuck procedure to get may be difficult, especially when you don’t know which would be best for your anatomy. Types of Tummy Tucks

There are three types of tummy tucks that Dr. Hochstein performs. These include:

Mini Tummy Tuck Procedure

A mini tummy tuck is less invasive than other tummy tucks as it only targets excess skin and fat on the lower abdominal muscles (below the belly button). It does not correct separated abdominal muscles. It may be less expensive than full or extended tummy tucks, with a shorter recovery time.

This is a good option for patients whose main concern is sagging skin. Given that it’s less extensive, most mini tummy tuck patients have not been through significant weight loss or shape changes.

Full Tummy Tuck Surgery

A full tummy tuck covers the upper and lower abdomen and removes excess skin and fat, repairs weak and separated muscles, and removes stretch marks when available. This is more invasive than the mini tummy tuck, and may require more downtime and a higher cost.

This is a good option for patients who need more than just excess skin removal.

Extended Tummy Tuck

An extended tummy tuck covers a larger area than the full tummy tuck, addressing loose skin and fat on the abdomen, waist, and hips. This is the most invasive of the tummy tucks and will require a longer recovery time and a higher cost.

This is a good choice for patients with weakened abdominal muscles and severe sagging skin beyond the lower and upper abdomen.

Adding Liposuction

A popular addition to any tummy tuck surgery is liposuction, which removes stubborn fat deposits in treated areas. Dr. Hochstein often combines liposuction with his tummy tuck procedures, but not every patient needs it.
